The Food Bank of Greenwood County’s Weekend Backpack Program provides food to children at risk of hunger over the weekends. Backpacks are stocked with kid-friendly and nutritious food. They are distributed on Fridays, or the last day before a holiday, in a discreet manner at schools.
The Weekend Backpack Program’s goal is to improve children’s health and overall quality of life by removing the barrier of hunger. This in turn will assist them in realizing their best possible selves.
Currently, all elementary and primary schools within Greenwood County School Districts 50, 51, 52 participate in the Weekend Backpack Program.
This program is possible due to the generosity and support of our community and beyond.
